Given that Kenya is to be industrialized by the year 2030 in line with vision 2030 and the birth of the new Kenyan constitution, there was need for registration and recognition of Engineering Technologists and Technicians through a professional body in order for them to join the engineering team in this noble task. Institution of Engineering Technologists and Technicians (IET) Kenya birthday was on 16th November, 2011 under the Societies Act section 10 through certificate of registration number 35998.
The main objective of the Institution is to promote the advancement of the profession of engineering technology and the science of engineering technology in Kenya.
Engineering is an important and learned profession that requires a high standard of scientific education, together with specialised training, development and experience. Engineering Technologists and Technicians are expected to show the highest standards of honesty, integrity, impartiality and fairness towards all persons connected with their work. They must also be dedicated to the protection of public health, safety and well-being. Professional Engineering Technologists and Technicians must perform to a standard of behaviour that requires utmost adherence to the highest principles of ethical conduct that include moral duty and obligation to perform to perfection and satisfaction of the end user.
